Senegal international Sane joins Werder Bremen

Bremen have completed the transfer of Lamine Sane from FC Girondins Bordeaux, the Bundesliga club announced in an official statement on Thursday.

The 29-year-old center back joined the "Green-Whites" with immediate effect after putting pen to paper on a two-year deal with an option to extend for another year.

"With Lamine Sane we have signed an interesting player," Bremen' s sporting director Frank Baumann told the club' s official homepage. "He is a tall central defender with a lot of experience. He has the potential to stabilize our defense."

The new arrival is said to replace Alejandro Galvez who left the club to join Spanish outfit SD Eibar recently. Sane played since 2009 for Bordeaux where he marked seven goals in 186 appearances. He is, moreover, since 2009 part of Senegal' s national team and made 25 international caps.

"I am very pleased that the transfer worked out," Sane said. "I want to thank Bordeaux, for agreeing on the transfer, and Bremen for the trust they place in me. I am looking forward to the Bundesliga, which I have followed intensively over the years."

Sane' s new club will encounter defending champions and German giants Bayern Munich for the curtain raiser of the Bundesliga season 2016-2017 on August 26. Endit
