Morocco sets up new agency to fight against doping in sport

Xinhua, August 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

Morocco announced Thursday that it will establish a new agency to fight against doping in sport.

Dubbed the Moroccan Anti-Doping Agency, The Moroccan Ministry for Youth and Sports said in a statement that it aims to prevent and fight against doping in sport, preserve athletes' health and avoid practices that undermine sport's ethics, values and objectives.

The agency noted it will assist sports administrations, federations, associations and companies in ways to prevent and fight against doping.

It will also be tasked with designating education, training and awareness-raising programs, it added.

This measure comes only weeks after several Moroccan athletes were found guilty of using illegal performance-enhancing substances. They have thus been banned from Rio Olympics. Endit
