Man detained at Lisbon airport for carrying 17 kgs of ecstasy

A man was detained at Lisbon airport for carrying 17 kilograms of ecstasy, the country's judiciary police said in a statement on Thursday.

According to the statement, the amount of ecstacy seized corresponds to 40,000 pills. Police announced it was the biggest seizure of the drug at Portuguese airports in five years.

The man, aged 18, was a foreign national, according to Portuguese police.

Earlier this week a 40-year old woman on a wheelchair was detained at Lisbon's airport for carrying 2.34 kg of cocaine. Enditem
