Cambodia's export up 10 pct in 1st half of 2016

Cambodia exported products worth 4.57 billion U.S. dollars in the first half of 2016, up 10 percent if compared to the same period last year, according to the government's figures on Thursday.

Garment and footwear products accounted for approximately 76 percent of the country's total export, showed the figures of the Cambodia Import-Export Inspection and Fraud Repression Directorate General, known as Camcontrol.

The Southeast Asian country exported garment and footwear items in equivalent to 3.46 billion U.S. dollars during the January-June period this year, up 4 percent over the same period last year.

On the import side, Cambodia shipped in goods worth 6.33 billion U.S. dollars during the first half of this year, up 12 percent over the same period last year, the figures said.

Cambodian's main trading partners include European countries, the United States, China, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia. Enditem
