Xinhua, August 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

An international seafood exhibition entitled Vietfish 2016 kicked off here Wednesday, with the participation of nearly 200 companies from 11 countries.

During the three-day expo themed "Asia's Home Seafood," the companies from such countries as China, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, the United States and Germany are showcasing their best seafood products and related technologies.

Some seminars on various seafood markets in the world are to take place during the expo which is held by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Vietnam is likely to make seafood export turnovers of over 7 billion U.S. dollars in 2016, up 6.3 percent against 2015, predicted the VASEP. The country's seafood industry has recorded an average annual growth of more than 30 percent in the last 20 years.

Vietnam is now the world's third biggest aquaculture output, after China and India, and the fourth biggest seafood exporter, after China, Norway and Thailand. Its key seafood exports include catfish, squid, octopus and tuna. Enditem
