Germany's benchmark DAX index closes lower

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Tuesday went down and closed at 10,144.34 points.

The slump was mainly attributed to the poor performance of banks, according to local analysts. The blue-chip DAX index lost 186.18 points, or 1.8 percent.

Fresenius Medical Care climbed by 0.63 percent. Beiersdorf, a skin care company, advanced by 0.36 percent.

On the other hand, Commerzbank slumped by 9.19 percent. Volkswagen lost 5.03 percent. Infineon Technologies, a semiconductor company, dropped by 4.9 percent. Deutsche Bank fell by 4.83 percent and Deutsche Lufthansa went down by 3.17 percent.

Daimler was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 274.01 million euros (306.04 million U.S. dollars). Endit
