The 19-country Eurozone saw its industrial producer prices increased month-on-month in June, but slumped by a big margin on a yearly basis, official data showed Tuesday.
The industrial producer prices in the single currency bloc continued to pick up upward momentums in June compared with the previous month, rising by 0.7 percent, while in May the prices increased by 0.6 percent, said Eurostat, the statistical agency of the European Union (EU).
However, the prices decreased by 3.1 percent in the Eurozone, compared with June 2015. All member states witnessed declines year-on-year except Malta which recorded a yearly increase of 1 percent.
The largest yearly decrease was observed in debt-torn Greece, plummeting by 7.3 percent, followed by the Netherlands, sliding by 6.2 percent.
The yearly decrease was largely due to price falls in the energy sector, the Eurostat said.
In wider EU, the industrial prices increased by 0.8 percent, compared with May, but dropped by 2.9 percent year-on-year. Endit
