US pledges 407 million USD in aid for Tanzania's socio-economic transformation

The governments of the United States and Tanzania on Monday signed a five-year strategic assistance agreement.

Under the agreement, the US government through the US Agency for International Development (USAID) intended to invest 407 million U.S. dollars this year as part of the five-year aid program in various sectors in Tanzania, the two governments said in a joint statement.

The statement said the sectors included health, agriculture, natural resource management, education, energy, and democratic governance.

USAID mission director, Sharon Cromer, signed on behalf of the US government and Tanzania was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Planning, Servacius Likwelile. Endit
