Deadly traffic accident kills 7 in Algeria

At least seven people were killed and 28 others injured on Saturday in a bus crash in the province of Medea, 145 km south of the Algerian capital of Algiers.

The bus was carrying people who attended a local religious feast as it skidded down a hill and crashed in a ravine, according to a source of firefighting department.

Some injured passengers are still in serious conditions as they are receiving medical treatment in local hospitals.

As many as 1,919 people were killed and 21,290 others injured in traffic accidents in Algeria during the first half of 2016, authorities said.

Road accidents killed 4,610 people last year, 34 percent of them were under 30 years old. Endit
