Jordan reiterates support for Palestinians

Xinhua, July 31, 2016 Adjust font size:

Jordanian Prime Minister Hani Mulki reiterated the country's support for the Palestinians on Saturday, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

Speaking at a meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, Mulki said Jordan supports the steadfastness of the Palestinians and hopes that all obstacles facing them will be removed.

The prime minister said Jordan will not give up defending the Palestinians until they restore their legitimate rights.

Mulki also expressed his hope that serious peace talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis will be resumed, so that an independent Palestinian state, with east Jerusalem as its capital, can be established based on the 1967 borders.

He stressed that seeking a solution to the Palestinian issue should be given top priority in the Middle East affairs, as most of the regional conflicts are related to it.

The two leaders also discussed bilateral ties and the need to enhance cooperation.

Hamdallah praised the role Jordan has played in defending the holy sites in east Jerusalem from Israeli "aggressions." Endit
