The following are news highlights in major South African media outlets on Saturday.
-- The Democratic Alliance (DA) appears to be in line to win Tshwane (Pretoria), Nelson Mandela Bay and Johannesburg metropolitan municipalities in next week's local government elections, according to the final pre-election survey by eNCA and research consulting firm Ipsos.
The poll results, released on Friday, reflect an earlier survey by Ipsos showing that the DA to be a likely winner in Nelson Mandela Bay and Tshwane. The latest poll adds Johannesburg to the list of metros that the DA could snatch from the ruling ANC. (Business Day)
-- This year's municipal elections are the most difficult that South Africa has ever experienced, Electoral Commission of SA vice chairperson Terry Tselane said on Friday.
