Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Thursday formally accepted the Democratic Party's nomination for president and pledged more economic opportunities for Americans and "steady leadership."

DAMASCUS -- At least 35 civilians were killed by fresh U.S.-led airstrikes near a town controlled by the Islamic State (IS) group in northern Syria, a pan-Arab TV reported Friday.

The airstrikes targeted the town of Ghandur in the countryside of the town of Manbej, which has seen several strikes by the U.S.-led anti-terror coalition. (US-Syria-Strikes)

ANKARA -- Turkish Interior Minister Efkar Ala on Friday told media that 18,044 people have been detained after a failed coup attempt.

MEXICO CITY -- Pedro Pablo Kuczynski was sworn in Thursday as Peru's new president with support from Latin American countries.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, who attended the swearing-in ceremony, greeted Kuczynski while stressing "the Mexican government's full disposition to strengthen cooperation between both countries," according to a press release published by the Presidency's Office.
