Rwanda international trade fair to promote local products

Close to 20 countries are participating in Rwanda's international trade fair which opened officially on Thursday at Gikondo expo grounds in Kigali.

The two-week trade fair was organized by the Private Sector Federation (PSF) and the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

The exhibitors are showcasing manufactured, agro-processing, financial services, ICT, handcraft, construction, and tourism products.

The exhibition has attracted more than 419 exhibitors, including international exhibitors from East African Community countries, Iran, China, Vietnam, Syria, Singapore, Zambia, Ghana, and Nigeria.

Speaking at the opening, Rwanda's Minister of Trade and Industry Francois Kanimba said the exhibition offers an opportunity to promote local production, networking and competitiveness.

The Chairman of PSF, Benjamin Gasamagera, urged the exhibitors to use the expo to network, exchange ideas and share best experiences.

Jeannette Mukaneza, a local exhibitor said she would use the expo to market their handcraft products to international market. Endit
