Investigation on Cuban volleyball players over alleged rape completed in Finland

Xinhua, July 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

Pre-trial investigation on six Cuban volleyball players who were alleged of rape, was completed, announced Finnish National Police Board on Friday.

Police said that the case would be transferred to the Prosecutor's Office of Central Finland for prosecution.

The suspects are members of the Cuban national volleyball team.

At the beginning of July, the team participated in the games of the World Volleyball League in Finland. The suspected rape took place in a hotel in Tampere, southern Finland, where the Olympics-bound Cuban team stayed.

Initially, eight players of the team were arrested, and two of them were released the next day. Soon after, the Tampere District Court remanded the other six men into custody. Endit
