Albania's agricultural exports increased in 1st half of 2016

Xinhua, July 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

In the first six months of 2016, Albania's agricultural exports grew by 17 percent compared with the same period last year, Albanian Daily News quoted data from the Agriculture Ministry as saying on Friday.

The value of agricultural exports in the first half of this year was estimated at around 4.6 billion Lek (about 37.4 million U.S. dollars), up from 3.9 billion (about 31.2 million U.S. dollars) in the second half of 2015.

During the same six-month period, the country's agricultural imports grew by around 11 percent from last year, with a total sum of 31 billion Lek (about 248 million U.S. dollars) from 28 billion Lek (224 million U.S. dollars) in 2015, according to the Albanian Agriculture Ministry.

Agriculture experts have shown optimism that an innovative financing facility signed between the Albanian government and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will help the country's agricultural sector and food processing industry grow. Endi
