Chinese shares close lower Friday

Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.5 percent to close at 2,979.34 points.

The smaller Shenzhen index closed 0.64 percent lower at 10,329.44 points. The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was down 0.81 percent to close at 2,122.41 points. Endi
