Poland, Britain PMs discuss cooperation after Brexit

British Prime Minister Theresa May held a meeting with her Polish counterpart Beata Szydlo here on Thursday on cooperation after Brexit and the fate of Polish immigrants in the UK.

The main themes during the meeting were the situation of Poles in Britain in the context of Brexit as well as bilateral relations.

During the press conference, both prime ministers announced Polish-British relations to be set to deepening mutual cooperation. Consultations of governments were announced to be held soon.

Regarding the problem of numerous Polish people living and working in Britain, the Polish Prime Minister informed that she received declaration from Theresa May, assuring that their situation would not change until Britain stays in the EU.

After Brexit, the situation of EU citizens living in Britain will be regulated basing on the principle of reciprocity, and will be same as the situation of British people living within the EU, Szydlo said.

Theresa May became Britain's Prime Minister on July 13, replacing David Cameron, this is her first visit to Poland since taking up the post. Endit
