Germany's benchmark DAX index closes lower

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Thursday closed lower at 10,274.93 points.

The blue-chip DAX index went lower because many investors are now on vacation, according to local analysts. The index went down by 44.62 points, or 0.43 percent.

Adidas advanced by 2.53 percent. Thyssenkrupp gained 2.21 percent. Vonovia, a real estate company, climbed by 1.82 percent. HeidelbergCement added 0.99 percent and Commerzbank went up by 0.92 percent.

On the other hand, Deutsche Bank plunged by 4.3 percent. Volkswagen fell by 3.13 percent. BMW slipped by 3.05 percent. Daimler dropped by 2.6 percent and Linde, an industrial gas company, went down by 1.6 percent.

Daimler was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 358.46 million euros (around 398 million U.S. dollars). Endit
