China's embassy in Cambodia celebrates 89th anniversary of PLA establishment

The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia hosted a reception on Thursday evening to mark the 89th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) which falls on Aug. 1.
The event was attended by Cambodian Defense Ministry Secretary of State Gen. Moeung Samphan and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Bu Jianguo as well as some 300 guests including Cambodian government officials, senior military officers, politicians and foreign diplomats.
In his welcoming speech, Colonel Li Ningya, military attaché of the Chinese Embassy to Cambodia, said over 89 years, under the correct leadership of the Communist Party of China, the PLA has achieved great achievements in defending national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the people of China.
"We will continue to hold the banner of peace, development and cooperation, pursue the national defense policy, and make more contributions to regional and international peace and security," he said.
Speaking about China and Cambodia relations, Li said that in recent years, the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation between the two countries have been deepened and developed.
"China will continue to work with Cambodia to further advance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation in order to build a community of common destiny on a sincere and equal treatment," he said.
Major General Keo Sambath, deputy director of Cambodian Defense Ministry's International Relations Department, admired the PLA for having firmly defended the nation and served the people of China.
"On this occasion, I'd would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the government, the armed forces and the people of China for their continuous support to Cambodia. The support has importantly contributed to the success of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces," he said at the reception ceremony. Endit
