The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average slid 114.56 points, or 0.69 percent, from Wednesday to 16,550.26.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange fell 11.31 points, or 0.86 percent, to 1,310.36.
