Ukraine's Shakhtar Donetsk defeated Switzerland's Young Boys 2-0 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round on Tuesday evening.
The match was held at the Lvov Arena stadium in western Ukraine in front of 7,477 spectators.
The guests took control of the game with the starting whistle, having 5 corners and several chances to score in the opening 15 minutes. They, however, failed to convert the opportunities into a goal due to the good performance of Shakhtar' s goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov.
The Ukrainian side needed 18 minutes to create the first chance in the match -- Eduardo scored from the edge of the box, but his goal was ruled out for offside.
The disallowed goal has apparently inspired the team from Donetsk, which started to play their usual attacking style of football after it and fully dominated the game till the end.
Bernard scored the first Shakhtar's goal in the 27th minute and in the 75th minute Eugene Seleznev has doubled the lead.
The two teams will meet for the second leg match on Aug. 3 in Bern on Stade de Suisse. Endit
