Vietnamese PM proposes change in position of agriculture minister

Xinhua, July 27, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Vietnamese prime minister on Wednesday afternoon submitted to the parliament a list of proposed cabinet members with a change in head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has proposed to the parliament the appointment of five deputy prime ministers as well as other ministers and heads of ministerial-level agencies for 2016-2021 tenure.

The position of MARD minister is the only change among cabinet members in the proposal compared to those appointed in April for 2011-2016 tenure.

Nguyen Xuan Cuong, who has served as deputy minister of MARD since December 2015, was nominated to take the post of MARD minister to replace Cao Duc Phat, according to state-run radio Voice of Vietnam.

The Vietnamese government for 2016-2021 tenure keeps the structure unchanged with five deputy prime ministers as well as 22 ministries and ministerial-level agencies compared to the previous tenure.

The appointment of Vietnamese cabinet members is scheduled to be adopted by deputies at the ongoing first session of 14th National Assembly of Vietnam on Thursday in capital Hanoi. Endit
