Riga to host Asian Culture Festival in fall

Xinhua, July 27, 2016 Adjust font size:

A festival of Asian cultures is scheduled to take place at the House of Congresses in Riga on Sept. 10, organizers informed.

The one-day festival will showcase the cultures of some Asian countries including China, India, Japan, Thailand.

The event will end with a gala concert titled "The Silk Road", featuring dance and live music performances.

The concert will highlight ancient Oriental music instruments like the Chinese guzheng, India's sarod, the daf and ney of Iran, as well as the tabla, tanpura and various other percussions.

"The Silk Road marks the cultural, spiritual, political and economic space of the East and the West. This is a world interwoven by caravan routes," say the festival's organizers -- Madas cultural exchange center and RigaFest. Endit
