Xinhua, July 27, 2016 Adjust font size:

Algeria and Niger on Tuesday discussed bilateral relations, security and counterterrorism cooperation in the sub-Saharan region.

"We have agreed to further strengthen and improve the bilateral relation between Niger and Algeria," Niger's Foreign Minister Ibrahim Yacoubou told reporters following talks with his Algerian counterpart Ramtane Lamamra.

Yacoubou said he discussed with Lamamra the geopolitical and security situation in the region.

The Nigerien top diplomat described the bilateral security cooperation between the two neighboring nations as "excellent," hailing the long and good experience of the North African nation in the field of counter terrorism.

Algeria deployed troops over the southern 1,200 km long borderline with Mali and Niger to foil intrusion of arms and militants. Endit
