Britain's famous Red Arrows aerobatic flight team is to perform for the first time in China this year, Defense Secretary Michael Fallon announced Tuesday.
The team, part of the Royal Air Force (RAF), has entertained spectators across the world with its daring aerobatic skills.
Secretary Fallon announced the RAF's display team would perform its world-famous aerobatics with displays and flypasts for the first time in China. The team is also due to perform in up to 20 locations in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions, in countries including India, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Planning is under way to finalize details of the Red Arrows deployment, which follows an invitation for the aerobatic team of Hawk T1 aircraft to perform at the Zhuhai Airshow as part of the Britain's GREAT campaign.
A ministry of defense spokesman said Tuesday: "Following visits to Japan in January and Singapore in May, Mr. Fallon confirmed that RAF Typhoon jets will take part in the joint exercise Bersama Lima from Malaysia...The Typhoons will then deploy around the region for joint exercises with allies."
Representing the speed, agility and precision of the RAF, the Red Arrows team is the public face of the service and is regarded as one of the world's best.
As well as appearing at air shows, the team is regularly used on ceremonial occasions, such as fly-pasts associated with the British Royal Family anniversary events. The team, based in the English county of Lincolnshire, was first formed in 1965. It has performed almost 5,000 displays in around 60 countries.
The Zhuhai Airshow takes place in Zhuhai City in Guangdong Province between November 1 and 6. Endit
