The JSE closes higher lifted by gains from resources

On Tuesday the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) all share index closed 0.84 percent up with gains from resource stocks.
Gold shares rose 4.29 percent.
A U.S. dollar was bought R14.42, the British pound R18.88 and the euro R15.83 at the close of the session.
In a note Momentum SP Reid Securities said weaker commodity prices and support for the dollar would weigh on resources counters in the next session or two.
Among the gainers, was DRD gold Ltd which rose 6.73 percent to R10.62. Anglo American Platinum Corporation Ltd shares advanced 6.28 percent to trade at R411.84.
Among some individual shares, resources giant BHP Billiton was up 3.61 percent to R178.69, with Glencore gaining 1.39 percent to R35.10.
AngloGold Ashanti was 2.91 percent higher at R297.32 and Gold Fields gained 3.38 percent to R82.50.
Impala Platinum was up 4.46 percent to R54.23 and Lonmin gained 4.35 to R40.29
Losers today were Alaris Holdings Ltd which retreated 5.36 percent to R2.65. Also losing ground was Capitol and Counties Prop. Plc which slipped 4.29 percent to trade at R53.60. Endit
