Serbia's Kostic joins Hamburg from Stuttgart

Hamburg have signed Serbia international Filip Kostic from relegated Stuttgart, both Bundesliga clubs confirmed on Monday.

The 23-year-old midfielder joins from second division side Stuttgart after putting pen to paper on a five-year deal with Hamburg.

"We are glad that we have been able to complete the transfer," Hamburg's chairman Dietmar Beiersdorfer said. "He is a fast player who always seeks after one-on-one situations. Despite his only 23 years he already has a lot of experience. He knows the Bundesliga and proved his qualities is the past two years."

Hamburg's new arrival joined Stuttgart from Dutch side FC Groningen in August 2014. The nine-time Serbia international midfielder made 59 Bundesliga appearances to provide 13 assists and eight goals.

Kostic will joins his teammates for the first time on Tuesday before the "HSV" encounter with Ingolstadt at the first round in German Bundesliga on August 27. Endit
