Germany's benchmark DAX index closes higher

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Monday advanced and stood at 10,198.24 points.

Encouraging economic data in Germany helped to lure investors back, according to local analysts. The blue-chip DAX index rose by 50.78 points, or 0.5 percent.

Risers made moderate gains with adidas taking the lead with an increase of 1.53 percent. Thyssenkrupp climbed by 1.49 percent. Vonovia, a real estate company, added 1.18 percent. Infineon Technologies, a semiconductor producer, inched up by 1.02 percent. Deutsche Post went up by 0.95 percent.

On the other hand, Merck, a leading science and technology company, fell by 0.52 percent. The utilities company EON dropped by 0.37 percent. Deutsche Lufthansa slipped by 0.29 percent and Commerzbank went down by 0.17 percent.

Daimler was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 204.32 million euros (around 224.57 million U.S. dollars). Endit
