Singapore stocks close 0.53 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 15.50 points, or 0.53 percent, to close at 2,929.85.

A total of 923.6 million shares changed hands with turnover of 941.5 million Singapore dollars (691.9 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 229 to 172, while 504 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 4.87 points, or 0.17 percent, to close at 2,945.35 on July 22. Enditem
