Bangladesh Police claim to have identified Spanish cafe attack instigators

Xinhua, July 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

Bangladesh police on Sunday claimed to have identified instigators of the Spanish cafe attack in capital Dhaka.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia told journalists Sunday that "The instigators have been identified and their arrest is now simply a matter of time for us."

But he did not elaborate on the matter for the "sake of investigation."

Terror attack at the Spanish restaurant in Dhaka's diplomatic enclave Gulshan on July 1 left 22 people, including 18 foreigners and two police officers dead.

Responsibility for the attack has been claimed by the Islamic State group, an assertion rejected by the authorities, who blamed "homegrown" terrorists for the incident. Six of the gunmen were killed while one was captured and detained alive, but he later died in a hospital. Endit
