Frankfurt loan Varela from Manchester United

Xinhua, July 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

Eintracht Frankfurt have signed Guillermo Varela on loan from Manchester United, both team announced on Saturday.

The 23-year-old defender will strengthen the "Eagles" defence after putting pen to paper on a loan deal until June 2017.

"Guillermo Varela is a very young and talented player who has proven his qualities at two top clubs," Frankfurt's sporting director Bruno Huebner said. "We are convinced that he will revive the competition within the team."

Frankfurt's Uruguayan new arrival, who received the jersey number 3, plays since 2013 for Manchester United. However, he has been loaned to other clubs for most of the time.

"I look forward to Frankfurt, especially to the team and the stadium," Varela told the club' s official homepage. "I have seen a few games of the Bundesliga on television, and was impressed by the atmosphere."

The "Eagles" encounter Schalke at the first round of Bundesliga on Aug. 27. Endit
