4th LD: German police call shootout as "acute terror situation": media

Xinhua, July 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

The police called the shootout in Munich as an "acute terror situation", German news television N-TV reported on Friday, citing an official announcement of the Munich police.

German local media Focus Online reported that at least six people were killed in the shootout in the German city of Munich on Friday evening.

As N-TV reported, the central train station of Munich has been evacuated due to a police operation.

Munich police reported on early Friday evening that they were carrying out a large-scale operation in a Munich shopping center due to a shootout.

At the moment, the police ask people to stay away from public places, because the attackers are still on the run.

"Situation around the mall is still unclear. There are several injured people," local police said on its Twitter account.

"Please avoid the area around the mall," Munich police said, adding "stay in your homes and leave the road."

The report of local media Antenne Bayern that there was a second shootout in the city center, has been denied by the Munich police who said there is no shootout in the city.

In addition, the police ask people to stop posting information of police operation on social media, otherwise it would help the attackers. Endit
