Lithuanian conservatives team up with former Ukrainian economy minister

Ukraine's former economy minister Aivaras Abromavicius has agreed to join Lithuanian conservatives' government team in case the party wins the parliamentary elections, the party announced Thursday.
Abromavicius, however, doesn't become a member of the party and would join the government team if the opposition party Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christiant democrats win the general elections.
According to the leader of the conservative party Gabrielius Landsbergis, "Abromavicius' successful and widely recognized experience in reforming Ukraine's economy in circumstances of war and crisis is particularly valuable."
It remains unclear what position would be proposed to Abromavicius if the party wins parliamentary elections this October.
"I'm Ukrainian and a Lithuanian patriot. Therefore, I would like to apply my experience in implementing vast economic modernization and transparency reforms in Lithuania as well," Abromavicius was quoted as saying in a press release.
Abromavicius resigned from the Ukrainian government earlier this year. He has both Lithuanian and Ukrainian citizenships.
According to the latest survey by Vilmorus, Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christiant democrats are in the third place among the most popular parties with 10.8 percent of respondents claiming they would vote for the party.
Lithuania's parliamentary elections are scheduled on Oct. 9. Endit
