AfDB invests billions in Morocco during past decade

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has invested nearly 7.8 billion U.S. dollars in Morocco during the past decade, AfDB President Akinwumi Adesina said Thursday.

The visiting AfDB president said Morocco is the third destination of foreign investment in Africa, according to a statement from Moroccan prime minister's office.

The AfDB president also hailed the efficiency of the energy policy adopted by the Moroccan authorities, notably in renewable energy and access to water and electricity, particularly in rural areas.

Adesina also expressed the AfDB's readiness to support the efforts made by Morocco to host the 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, to be held in November.

He called for capitalizing on the outcome of this international event to support development in the African continent. Endit
