The JSE closes higher Thursday

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange closed higher on Thursday, with gains in resources that assisted to offset losses in industrial shares.

The all share close 0.26 percent higher at 52,974.03 points, and the blue-chip top 40 gained 0.16 percent. The gold mining edged up 1.16 percent. Financials climbed 0.36 percent .

US stocks closed higher on Wednesday for a seventh day in a row, following better than expected earnings which generally boosted optimism on Wall Street, Momentum SP Reid said in an early morning note.

Anglo American recovered 1.81 percent to R149.29 after falling strongly on Wednesday on quarterly results. In its outlook for the second quarter Anglo American cut both its iron ore and copper output guidance. Endit
