Iran condemns French attack on Syrian village

Xinhua, July 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Iran's Foreign Ministry on Wednesday condemned the recent airstrikes by the French jets on a Syrian village that killed dozens of civilians.

"Bombing and killing of defenseless people, especially women and children, with any aim or under any pretext, is unacceptable, condemned and against international law," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi was quoted as saying by Press TV.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said the French warplanes, part of the U.S.-led anti-terror coalition, struck the village of Tukhan al-Kubra in the northern countryside of the town of Manbej in Aleppo province on Tuesday morning, committing a "bloody massacre" against civilians there.

The ministry urged the United Nations to condemn French airstrikes, which targeted a town in northern Syria, killing 120 civilians.

Iran has emerged as the supporter of the Syrian government in its conflicts with the dissident militants over the past years. Endit
