Suspects in deadly Eid prayer attack sent to jail in Bangladesh

Xinhua, July 20, 2016 Adjust font size:

A district court in northeastern Bangladesh has rejected bail petitions of five persons who are suspected of being involved in the attack near the country's largest Eid congregation venue on July 7.

The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Abdus Salam Khan in Kishorganj district also sent the suspects to jail after they were produced before the court.

The terror suspects were arrested from different areas of Kishoreganj town.

Before the wounds of the July 1 deadly terror attack at a Dhaka restaurant recover, Bangladesh suffered the fresh blow on July 7 when the prayer venue was attacked.

At least four people were dead, including two constables and an attacker, and a dozen others including six policemen were injured as the attackers, comprised of seven to eight men and armed with explosives, machetes and firearms, battled with law enforcers for more than an hour on July 7 morning at the entrance of the country's largest Sholakia Eid prayer venue in Kishoreganj district, some 117 km northeast of Dhaka.
