Chinese Zheng Saisai advance at Stanford

China's Zheng Saisai advanced to the second round at WTA Stanford event on Monday, beating Maria Mateas 7-5, 6-1.

Zheng, in her build-up for the Rio Olympic Games, will face seventh seeded Alize Cornet who toppled unseeded American Jennifer Brady 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Zheng, 22, is looking to clinch her first singles title as she already has three doubles crowns under her name, including the Stanford win last year with compatriot Xu Yifan.

Zheng and Xu will play in the doubles event at the Rio Olympics which kick off on Aug. 5. Enditem
