Four Afghan army personnel killed in attacks

Xinhua, July 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

Some four Afghan army personnel were killed in separate incidents since early Sunday, the country's Defense Ministry said on Monday.

"Four Afghan National Army (ANA) brave personnel were martyred within the past 24 hours," the ministry said in a statement.

The Afghan security forces' casualties have risen recently as they struggle against a surge in attacks by Taliban militant group and other anti-government fighters.

Over the same period, about 58 insurgents had been killed, 28 wounded and 10 others detained after Afghan security forces backed by Afghan army's artillery and warplanes launched cleanup and military operations in 11 of the country's 34 provinces, the ministry confirmed earlier on Monday. Enditem
