French driver Despres continues Silkway Rally lead

French driver Cyril Despres continued the overall lead in the Silkway Rally by winning the 7th stage on Saturday.

Despres, 42, won the stage from Almaty of Kazakhstan to Bortala in China's Xinjiang in one hour, 2 minutes and 44 seconds.

His compatriot and Peugeot teammate Sebastien Loeb was second, with 2 minutes and 46 seconds behind. Russia's Vladimir Vasilyev was third with 4 minutes and 10 seconds further back.

Despres leads the overall standings by 10 minutes and 46 seconds.

Chinese driver Ma Miao finished the stage with 1 hour, 8 minutes and 26 seconds and ranked fifth in the stage.

Sunday's 8th stage will take place between Bortala and Urumqi over a distance of 905km. Endit
