China introduces vocational education for aging society

China is to introduce vocational school majors in eldercare nationwide, the Ministry of Education said Friday.

Over 140 schools have been chosen to pilot the program.

The ministry has asked local governments to support vocational schools as they adapt to meet the needs of China's aging society.

China had 222 million people aged 60 or above at the end of 2015, over 16.1 percent of the total population. Endi
