British Prime Minister David Cameron formally bid farewell to 10 Dowing Street on Wednesday afternoon, handing power over to his successor, Home Secretary Theresa May.

Speaking outside Downing Street, Cameron said being Prime Minister has been the "greatest honour of my life."

After he formally offered his resignation to Queen Elizabeth II, Theresa May is now to be appointed as the new prime minister by the Queen.

She is expected to make her maiden speech as Prime Minister outside Downing Street, and outline her plans for her government. Endit
