7 militants killed in Afghan northern district

Seven Taliban militants have been killed and three others injured as clash erupted in Chardara district of the northern Kunduz province on Wednesday, an army spokesman in the province Brigadier Abdul Khalil said.

The clash, according to the official, flared up early Wednesday in Atmanzai village. After hours of fighting, seven militants were killed while three others were injured.

There were no casualties on security personnel, the official asserted.

Sporadic fighting, according to locals, has been continuing in the area.

Taliban militants who are active in Chardara district over the past couple of years are yet to make comment on the situation there. Enditem
