The following are the highlights of Zambia's major media outlets on Tuesday.

-- Zambia's main opposition party said it will not attend prayers called by President Edgar Lungu saying it was a waste of time.

On Sunday, Lungu asked religious leaders to organize a day of national prayers before next month's general elections and in the wake of the violence that has characterized campaigns. (TIMES OF ZAMBIA)

-- Zambia is expected to receive above-average rainfall during the start of the 2016/2017 farming season due to a La Nina phenomenon which is expected to affect the southern African region, Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWNET) has said.

FEWNET, a research body of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) which provides information and analysis on food insecurity, said a normal start to agricultural activities in the coming season is expected by farmers such as land preparation and planting to improve labor opportunities and income levels for households.
