CHICAGO -- A U.S. inmate shot dead two bailiffs on Monday at a courthouse in the state of Michigan before responding officers returned fire and killed him, authorities said.

A deputy sheriff and a civilian were also shot and wounded in the shooting at the Berrien County Courthouse in St. Joseph city, about 160 km from Chicago, Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey said at a news conference. (US-Shooting)

JUBA -- South Sudan's President Salva Kiir on Monday evening ordered a ceasefire after days of heavy fighting between his government troops and forces loyal to Vice President Riek Machar in the capital Juba.

President Kiir directed all commanders to cease all hostilities, control their forces and protect civilians, Information Minister Michael Makuei said in a televised speech on the state broadcaster, SSTV. (Kenya-Politics)
