Thailand's OTOP goods given in-flight sales campaign

Xinhua, July 11, 2016 Adjust font size:

Thailand's indigenous goods will be given a sales promotion campaign on board Thai airlines next month, said a high-level government official on Monday.

A catalog featuring a total of 138 products made under the theme of OTOP, the acronym for One Tambon (community) -- One Product, will be handed out to passengers in flight aboard Thai Airways International from next month, confirmed Department of Community Development director general Apichart Todilokvej.

The hand-made OTOP products being promoted aboard Thai international airliners include silk cloth, garments, gems, silverware and porcelain products and artificial flowers, among others.

Hundreds of other OTOP goods are yet to follow suit under the in-flight sales campaign in the following months, according to the department head.

He assured that the quality, designs and packaging of those OTOP goods have been upgraded to meet international standards while delivery of the merchandise overseas will also meet the schedules.

Designs for many of the promoted OTOP goods have been created and improved by students at state universities located in the neighborhood of the manufacturers, he said. Endit
