Wildfires spread in Russia's Yakutia

A wildfire has spread and destroyed nearly 3,000 hectares of woods at a world natural heritage site in Yakutia in Russia's Far East, the Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported Monday.

The wildfire, raging in the Lena Pillars Nature Park for two weeks, increased the burned area by 400 hectares over the weekend.

"It's hard to extinguish the fire completely because it is burning in remote places. Moreover, dry and hot weather complicates the situation," the report said.

Yakutia is also being hit by another wildfire in the Mirny area consuming 1,900 hectares of woods. Endi
