Somalia's Security forces have arrested several people and seized a cache of weapons in the southern region of Gedo bordering Kenya.

Mohamed Hassan, a police chief in the Bardhere town in Gedo, told reporters the security forces launched an operation early Saturday.

Hassan did not give details about the weapons seized in the operation but said police were following up the matter.
