At least 26 people were killed and 50 others injured in two separate road accidents in India's western state of Rajasthan, officials said Thursday.

Thirteen people were killed and 15 others injured Thursday morning when a speeding truck hit a passenger bus in Sirohi district, about 412 km southwest of Jaipur city, the capital of Rajasthan.

"In the morning a goods truck rammed into a private bus in Paldiaim area of Sirohi district killing 13 passengers," a police official said. "The 15 others injured in the accident were admitted in nearby hospitals."

Meanwhile, in another road accident on Wednesday night in the state 13 more were killed. The accident took place in Bhilwara district, about 252 km southwest of Jaipur.

"Last night in another deadly road accident, 13 people were killed and 35 others injured, after a tractor-trolley carrying members of a joint family rammed into a trailer," the police official said.

Police officials said the dead included seven women and three children. The family members according to reports were returning home after attending a marriage ceremony in nearby village.

"The bodies of deceased have been handed over to their family members after postmortem as the injured are being treated at different government hospitals," the official said.

Deadly road accidents are common in India often caused due to overloading, bad condition of roads and reckless driving.

Last year, 146,133 people were killed and 500,279 others injured in 501,423 road accidents across India, a latest report released by India's ministry of road transport said.

Global Road Safety Report 2015 released by WHO last year however said India accounts for more than 200,000 deaths annually due to road accidents. Endit
