1st LD Writethru: India to send security team to Bangladesh to probe terror attacks

Xinhua, July 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

India is sending a team of security experts to Bangladesh to help in the probe into two attacks in the neighboring country in a week, sources said Thursday.

"The team from the elite para-military National Security Group will soon go there to analyze the terror attack at a cafe in Dhaka last Friday as well as this morning's bombings at an Eid prayer gathering in Kishoreganj on the outskirts of the city," the sources said.

While 20 people have been killed in the terror attack at the Dhaka cafe, four persons died in the bombings at Kishoreganj, 140 km from Bangladesh capital.

Dhaka has asked India to examine the speeches of a controversial Mumbai-based Muslim preacher Zakir Naik in the wake of reports that two of the Dhaka attackers were inspired by his preachings.

"The Indian Home Ministry will look into it and take a call," Indian Minister Venkaiah Naidu told the media in the national capital. Enditem
